The Enculturated Body WorkshopMSF Sponsors "The Enculturated Body: Scales of Embodied Meaning in Communication" Workshop in Germany

The Mind Science Foundation is proud to sponsor "The Enculturated Body: Scales of Embodied Meaning in Communication" hosted by the Center for Interdisciplinary Research at Bielefeld University during June 26-28, 2008.

"The purpose of this workshop is to examine the theoretical / empirical utility of grounding meaning in dynamical systems theory in general, and the notion of an Enculturated Body, specifically. This is important, for while individualistic mechanistic models of meaning and communication can account for causality on the one hand, they have a hard time accounting for meaning on the other, because all of the work in their causal models belongs to the mechanisms, and meaning, not having any causal properties, is rendered epiphenomenal."

Please visit the workshop website for more information.
