JUST ADDED: LOCAL STANDUP COMEDIAN GLORIA SANCHEZ will open Dr. McGraw's talk with a short set at 6:20
In his quest to understand what makes things funny, Peter McGraw created the Humor Research Lab (aka HuRL) to conduct experiments using buckets of ice water, inappropriate kitten jokes and videos of people getting owned. But after a failed attempt at stand-up comedy, he realized that he still had a lot to learn about humor in the real world, so he launched the Humor Code, a global expedition that unites science and comedy – two topics that don't always get along. Combining insights from his behavioral research and his real-world adventures, he addresses puzzling questions about the origins of humor, whether men are funnier than women, and why timing is everything in joketelling. McGraw will conclude his talk with a discussion of how you might live a more humorous life.
