The Neural Correlate Society announced its top three winners on Sunday, May 10th during the Contest Gala in Naples, Florida. The Contest Gala was attended by over 1,000 scientists and artists during the 2009 Vision Sciences Society conference. Audience members participated in the live voting to award the "Best Visual Illusion of the Year" (c) trophy - the "Guido", named after trophy sculptor, Guido Moretti.

The Mind Science Foundation (MSF) is proud to sponsor the Neural Correlate Society's 5th Annual "Best Visual Illusion of the Year" © Contest that celebrates the ingenuity and creativity of the world's premier visual illusion research community.

The Visual Illusion Contest generated over 3 million hits since 2007! Susana Martinez-Conde, PhD and Stephen Macknik, PhD (Barrow Neurological Institute) are the founders and organizers of the contest.
